I live in the High Desert and to get to the area where I jog it is street/sidewalk then it is dirt and some grasslands. I needed a shoe that would offer support for my 50 yr old feet and stability on the varying terrain. I am an amateur jogger so I don't know what stride I have (in my weaker physical condition and at my age I feel lucky to have a stride at all=)). I wanted to do cardio outside for health and for weight loss and I am very happy with the shoe's performance. I like that they are lightweight and that they breathe so very well. The wide base really keeps me from feeling like I will roll an ankle on the uneven terrain that I jog on. I bought them for their technical merits but my daughter says she likes the way they look too. They are dark and light gray which is neutral with a little touch of chartreuse (bright yellow-green)so they don't show dirt. Great shoe.
